We started Arctic Eco-Sno with a clear mission: to create base layers that are kind to your skin, and kinder to the planet.
Like many outdoor lovers, we struggled to find layers that felt soft enough to wear all day, yet strong enough to move with us. And more often than not, the fabrics we tried were itchy, irritating, or made from materials we didn’t feel good about.
So we set out to change that, by starting with the one thing that matters most: how a layer feels next to your skin.

Why Some Base Layers Itch
If you’ve ever pulled on a base layer that started to itch within minutes, you’re not alone.
Many base layers use coarse fibres, chemical finishes, or fabric blends that simply weren’t designed with comfort in mind. Traditional polyesters can be stiff. Wool can feel scratchy. And some synthetics trap heat and moisture, leaving your skin feeling uncomfortable or irritated.
For us, softness isn’t a luxury. It’s essential.

Our Fabric: GRS-Certified Recycled Polyester
We make our base layers using GRS-certified recycled polyester, fabric that’s incredibly soft, breathable, and non-itchy by design.
Here’s why it feels so good:
- Fine, smooth yarns create a soft, barely-there feel against the skin
- Thoughtful knitting techniques help reduce friction and irritation
- No harsh chemical treatments, just clean, breathable comfort
- Moisture-wicking and temperature regulating, so you stay comfortable in motion and at rest
Whether you’re out in the cold or layering up for a hike or ski, these base layers are made to move with you, without the scratch.

What Is GRS and Why Does It Matter?
GRS stands for Global Recycled Standard, a certification that ensures the fabric you’re wearing is truly made from recycled materials, processed responsibly, and traceable from source to finished garment.
Choosing GRS-certified fabric means:
- Less waste, fewer carbon emissions
- Safer processes, no toxic finishes
- Ethical production at every step
- A lighter footprint, without sacrificing performance
It’s our way of making sure that what touches your skin is both safe and thoughtful, from start to finish.

Why We Use Recycled Poly
There’s already enough plastic in the world, and far too little of it being reused. It’s showing up in our oceans, piling up in landfills, and shifting the very seasons we love to explore.
While no single product can fix that, rethinking the way we make, and wear, our clothing is one step that matters.
That’s why we use recycled polyester. Because turning waste into something purposeful is a small way to protect what we love.
We’re not here to be perfect. We’re here to be better. And that means making base layers that care for the places they’re made to be worn in.
